Beware of
Fading Receipts
If you buy merchandise from stores that use thermal printers to print
receipts, make a photocopy of any receipt you may need in the future.
Staple the original receipt to the copy and file both together. (You can
recognize thermally printed receipts by the thin, shiny cash register
tape they are printed on.)
The reason: the ink on thermally printed receipts tends to fade,
making them useless to prove date of purchase for warranty returns or
tax deductions. In fact, some thermally printed receipts fade so quickly
that they become almost unreadable in just a month or two. So, make
those photocopies soon after you’ve made any major purchase. Find more
